If 84 people attend a concert and tickets for adults cost $2 while tickets for children cost $1.5 and total receipts for the concert was $142.5, how many of each went to the concert?

A + C = 84, A = 84-C

2A + 1.5C = 142.5

2(84-C) + 1.5C = 142.5

168 -2C + 1.5C = 142.5

.5C = 168-142.5 = 25.5

C = 25.5/.5 = 51 children

A = 84-51 = 33 adults

33(2) + 51(1.5) = 142.5
