Multiply your equation through by (y-1)(y-2)(y-3).
You will get a quadratic in y...but believe me it will be messy and you will need to be very careful in collecting terms.
Be careful...and good luck.

Multiply both sides of the equation by the LCD, (y-1)(y-2)(y-3) to get:
5(y-2)(y-3) + 3(y-1)(y-2) = 8(y-1)(y-3)
5(y2 - 5y + 6) + 3(y2 - 3y + 2) = 8(y2 - 4y + 3)
-34y + 36 = -32y + 24
-2y = -12
y = 6
