110 is the height of a right triangle with tan23.5 degrees = 110/b where b is the base of the right triangle = how far the boat is the the foot of the cliff.
b = 110/tan23.5 = 100/.4348= about 253 feet
that's assuming you meant the angle was 23.5 degrees and not 23 degrees and 5 minutes, which is closer to just 23 degrees 5 minutes = 5/60 = 1/12 degree. 23 1/12 = 23.08333... degrees
tan(23 1/12) = 0.4262
110/.4262 = about 258 feet
