The best way to do this is to list out the factors of -6, then see if any of them add to -5:

Factors of -6 Add to:

-1 x 6 = -6 -1 + 6 = 5

1 x -6 = -6 1 + -6 = -5

2 x -3 = -6 2 + -3 = -1

-2 x 3 = -6 -2 + 3 = 1

Looks like 1 and -6 are your two numbers.
