Leo is also making pizzas. He started with 4 and 1/ 2 cups of pepperoni. He has used 2/ 3 of his pepperoni. How many cups of pepperoni has he used so far? (Multiply or divide? What words help us know what you are going to do?

2/3 of 4 1/2 = 2/3 times 9/2 = (2/3)(9/2) = 3 cups used

4 1/2 = 9/2

used 2/3 "of" suggests multiply

2/3 of anything is 2/3 times what you started with

start with 4 1/2 = 4.5

2/3 times 4.5 = 2(4.5)/3 = 9/3 = 3 cups used up, 1 1/2 left
