A perpendicular line has a slope that is the negative inverse of the slope of the reference li ne. For y= -4/3x-2, whose slope is -4/3, the negative inverse would be +3/4.
The perpendicular line would thus have this form:
y=(3/4)x + b
We can find b, the y-intercept, by using the point, (5,4) and solving for b:
5=(3/4)4 + b
b = 2
The equation thus becomes: y = (3/4)x + 2
