Lateral area of a pyramid = 1/2 * slant height * base perimeter
the base perimeter = 4 * 12 = 48
the slant height is the hypotenuse of a right triangle with the height (6) and half the base (6) as legs. Using the Pythagorean Theorem, the slant height = sqrt(6^2 + 6^2) = 8.5
Lateral area = 1/2 * 8.5 * 48 = 204.
