Lateral area = 1/2 * slant height * perimeter of base
with edges = 8, the perimeter of square base = 32.
the slant height would be the leg of a right triangle where hypotenuse is edge(8) and other leg is half the length of the edge(4). using Pythagorean Theorem: slant height ^2 = sqrt ( 8^2 - 4^2) = 6.9.
thus lateral area = 1/2 * 6.9 * 32 = 110.4
