We will use the formula
a = v/t
where:
a = acceleration
v = velocity
t = time
First, lets convert hours to seconds.
1 hr = 3600 s
v1 = 30 km / hr = 30 km / 3600 s = 0.0083 km /s
v2 = 24 km / hr = 24 km / 3600 s = 0.0067 km /s
t = 6 s
a = (v2 - v1) / t
a = (0.0067 km/s - 0.0083 km/s) / (6 s)
a = -0.00026 km /s2
The negative sign indicates acceleration in the direction opposite to the bus' direction of motion. This means that the bus is slowing down.
