The point (-1, sqrt(3)) means the angle is in the second quadrant. If you remember Pythagoras, you can find the other side of the triangle: x=sqrt(3+1)=2. This is a 30, 60, right triangle. The angle you are looking is 60 degrees, but since it is in the second quadrant it would be 90+60= 150degrees. That in radians is 150*pi/180 = 5pi/6.
