Ask a surveyor how he uses trigonometry every day.
All the surveying tools are computerized now, but they all use trigonometry.
Ask a ship's navigator how a ship is navigated.
Of course, they all use GPS now so there is less need for trig...but up until GPS all ocean navigation used trigonometry.
And you can't use the computerized forms if you don't understand the basics which you will learn in your trig class.
In addition, a lot of more advanced math (e.g. calculus) uses trig functions though not for measurement but for lots of important purposes.
