Below, is an example of parallel Main Points (notice the similar wording at the beginning of each sentence) along with the connectives -- of course, you would develop each main point in detail. Generally, the first 2-5 words are the same. The parallel main points work with the connectives to help your audience to follow your message.
I. When planning a camping trip, select the right location for your family.
Connective: Now that I have explained how important it is to match your destination with your family's interests, I will explain how to select activities in the same way. (notice the internal review and internal preview)
II. When planning a camping trip, consider the activities in which you will want to participate.
Connective: Clearly, identifying your activities in advance is a good idea. So is thinking through the supplies you will need.
III. When planning a camping trip, research the supplies you will need.
