Sydielim (Syd for short)
We already know the denominator, 52. In order to get all your answers you just have to find the numerator which depends on what they are asking for.
Instance 1- p(10)
there are only four sets of ten in a deck of cards, therefore, 4/52 is your answer.
Instance 2- p(not 10)
this only means what is the probability of getting anything but a 10. well, we know there are only four 10 cards in a deck therefore we subtract those 4 from the total of 52 to get 48. your probability would then be 48/52
Instance 3- p(face card)
Again, how many face cards are there? 12. Your probability is 12/52
Instance 4- p(not face card)
now we do the opposite. there are 12 face cards in a deck, we need the probability of anything but that so we subtract 12 from the total number of cards which is 52 and get 40. 40/52 is your probability.
Simplify and convert to decimals as needed but these are the concepts. I hope this helps!
