The simple answer is to divide the number of miles, 4140, by the time it took, 7.5 hours, to get the speed of the jet in miles per hour.
If you look at it algebraicly, it would look like this:
4140 miles = x miles
7.5 hours 1 hour
After you cross multiply, it becomes:
4140 * 1 = 7.5x
To solve for x, divide both sides by 7.5
x = 552 miles
So the plane would travel 552 miles/hour.
