Whats the value of 'a' and 'k'?

How do you find a function's 'a' and 'k'? Like what are the steps? 

Lets say you have a point from the parent function (2,2) and a point on the same x-value on the other function which is (3,2), and also both function's  origin is (0,0)

its a square root function

I need a few more words to understand your question.  Are a and k really functions, or points or parameters?  The most general form of a square root function is f(x) = a SQRT(x - c) + d,  So unless you wrap a few more words around you question I don't think I'll be able to help you.
