Yes, you look up the products in the solubility table and if any of the products is insoluble, then a reaction will take place. If all the products are soluble, (and not a gas, and not a weak electrolyte), then no reaction takes place. Here are two simple examples:
AgNO3(aq) + NaCl(aq) ==> AgCl(s) + NaNO3(aq) REACTION TAKES PLACE
AgNO3(aq) + NaF(aq) ==> AgF(aq) + NaNO3)aq) NO REACTION TAKES PLACE
If you look at the ionic equation for the 2nd reaction, you will see that all ions are spectators, hence no reaction.
