How can I calm down before giving a speech?

I get really nervous when I have to talk in front of a class or give a presentation. I just read off my notes or the Powerpoint and my teacher keeps asking me to be louder. I get so scared that my voice shakes. I really hate asking a question in class or on Zoom too.

Depending on your age and health, physicians commonly prescribe Beta-Adrenergic Blocking Medications, or anti-high blood pressure meds, to calm public speakers who experience generalized anxiety prior to public speaking. There are no undesired side effects and the results are effective. Low-dose Metoprolol or Lopressor, say 15 to 25mg orally usually suffices. They block the unwanted effects released during times of stress from Epinephrine and Norepinephrine. It worked great for me and I no longer require them and actually enjoy speaking in front of peers and colleagues now. Good luck!
