Quadratic Function Complete square

−2x2+8x+10=0

I can go part way, but get stuck. Any advice on how to complete squares in general is also helpful!

I know the answers are 5 and -1, but I'm lost on the process. Thank you for your tips though.

The key step is the one I pointed out. Add 1/2 of the coefficient of the x term, all squared, to both sides. This makes the left side of the equation into a perfect square, in this case (x-2)^2. You can then take the square root of both sides to get the answer.

In your problem, the coefficient of the x term is -4, so add (-4/2)^2, which equals 4, to both sides.
