Take a look at Newton's Law. The first law tells you that nothing can accelerate (change velocity) without a force acting on it. The second law tells you how force, mass, and acceleration relate to each other. The third law tells you that if you push on an object, it will push back with the same force.
Also think about how the different locations (different gravities) affect the situation. Does the mass change when the box is in space? What about when it's on the moon?
