From the perspective of an American company, a US contact number is better. You should state if you are available to work during American time-zone hours. You can include in your cover letter that you are a overseas US citizen. Basically you want your potential employer to think that you can work in their company while your physical location would not pose an issue. These tips should help increase your chances.

asked 11/24/20Why can't I find a remote job for US companies to work from Europe?
Hello, I have recently relocated from the US to Romania and I am looking to find a remote job based in US from Romania but I can't find one. I have a Romanian number and a US Text Free Number. I have a professional resume with an associates degree in Information Technology education and 6 years of IT experience. I speak English fluently and intermediate Romanian. I have a decent laptop and an internet connection. I use my Romanian number on my US resume and I am a dual citizen for both countries. I don't understand what im doing wrong to not be able to find a job. What number do I choose for jobs to be contacted? Please help!
