A monomial is a polynomial with just one term, such as 5a or 2p10/w6 or 2x/y. So 2x/y is a monomial if there are no other terms added to it. For example, if you have 2x/y + 3, then you have a binomial (two terms) not a monomial.

asked 11/12/20Why is 2x/y not a monomial?
I'm not sure about this because why can 2p^10/w^6 be a monomial and 2x/y can't? Because it has no power? Then why is 5a a monomial?
