1/4 butter cups =1 dozen of cookies
? of 1/4 butter cups = 2 1/4 dozen of cookies
I am going to change 2 1/4 dozen to an improper fraction so 2 1/4 dozen = 9/4 dozen
(1/4)/1= x/(9/4) Now solve for x by multiplying 9/4 to both sides
9/16 =x so we get 9/16 total of butter and not 1/4 butter cups so we need to divide it by 1/4
(9/16) /(1/4)= 9/4
so this means we need 9 of 1/4 butter cups to make 2 1/4 dozen of cookies.
