If the third number had been 3/6, you would have recognized the pattern (numerator increase by 1, denominator decrease by 1); Notice that 3/6 reduces to 1/2.
Thus, the next 2 numbers are 5/4 and 2; 2 because 6/3 = 2.

When it comes to math and math challenges, one cannot ASSUME that all factors are the same (multiplication/addition, etc. etc.). For example, sometimes there may be a multiplication rule followed by an addition rule. The fact that you start your response with the words "IF THE THIRD NUMBER HAD BEEN ...." THAT is not how math works. I have found a pattern in this chain and it is a combination of multiplication AND addition. Remember, when you multiply a fraction BY ANOTHER FRACTION - the number decreases ....08/21/21

I agree that your conclusion to this challenge may be correct as well. But, again, many roads lead to the same destination. You say that 3/6 reduces to 1/2 ? Well, NOT ALWAYS ...... try telling that to my 6 siblings .... If three are females, you can NEVER change the fraction of the females versus the total of the children from 3/6 to 1/2 ....... You would have to kill people. Same as them saying that 6 out of 10 doctors agree to ....... So, you agree with that surmise that NOT ALL fractions are wise to "reduce" to a simpler form .... We do NOT reduce all fractions. That is NOT a required mathematical rule .....08/21/21
