Calculate the wavelength at which it is broadcasting.

B. A local FM radio station broadcasts at a frequency of 89.8 MHz.

Calculate the wavelength at which it is broadcasting.

I know this (1 MHz = 10⁶ s ^-1)

You need to memorize c = λν

c = speed of light = 3x108 m/s

λ = wavelength in m

ν = frequency in 1/s = Hz

593 kHz x 1000 Hz/kHz = 590,000 Hz = 590,000 s^-1 = 5.90x10⁵ s^-1

Solving c = λν for λ we have

λ = c / ν = 3x10⁸ ms^-1 / 5.90x10⁵ s^-1

λ = 508 m
