  1. Point P is on segment AB such that AP: PB is 2:5. If A has coordinates (-8, -2) and B has coordinates (6, 19), determine and state the coordinates of P.
  2. Point P is on segment AB such that AP: PB is 1:3. If A has coordinates (-3, -4) and B has coordinates (5, 0), determine and state the coordinates of P.
  3. Line v has an equation of y = –3/8 x + 5. Perpendicular to line v is line w, which passes through the point (6, 6). What is the equation of line w?
  4. Line a has an equation of y = –1/3 x + 6. Line b includes the point (–1, 2) and is parallel to line a. What is the equation of line b?
  5. The coordinates of the endpoints of AB are A(3,6) and B(7,–10). Point C is on AB and divides it such that AC:BC is 1:3. What are the coordinates of C?

AP : PB :: 2 : 5. x-distance from A to B is 14. That is divided into 7 parts (to get a ratio of 2 : 5). The x-distance from A to P is 4. The y-distance from A to B is 21. The y-distance from A to P is 6. P(-4, 4).
