Equation parallel to Y = -2x +3 at point (-1,4)
Solution:
In order for the equation to be parallel the slope has to match in magnitude and sign.
Equation given already in slope intercept form Y = mx + b
Because of this m = -2
Parallel equation must follow this format
Y = -2x + b
Now apply desired points
4 = -2 (-1) + b
4 - 2 = b
b =2
Therefore,
Parallel equation must be:
Y = -2x + 2
Plot both equations to prove out this solution :)
