The curve intercepts the y-axis when the y coordinate is zero. To find the coordinates of the x-intercepts you need to solve:
0 = x2+ 8x + 15
factoring
0 = (x + 5)(x + 3)
this is true if either x+5 = 0 or x+3 = 0 or when x = -5 or x = -3
so coordinates of the x-intercepts are (-3,0) and (-5,0).
