I would say that It depends on your situation as an artist. Are you an established musician already, or are you just beginning or don't have many viewers yet? Clearing samples will definitely get you out of trouble from the original artists for a while, but you do have to pay different prices of fees depending on what "tier" of contract you sign. Each contract has various stipulations that you must follow; the higher the price, the more freedom you have with the sample.
Releasing a song that gives you any monetary value, while using an uncleared sample, is considered theft.
Some alternatives to using samples would be to use royalty free sample packs from the likes of Cymatics or Splice. Royalty free samples do not need to be cleared.
