Parallelogram word problem

Oscar is tiling his bathroom floor. The design has large parallelogram shaped tiles. The base of each tile is 18 inches and the height of each tile is 5 inches. If it takes 30 tiles to cover the floor, what is the area of the entire floor in square inches?

The area of a parallelogram is given by the formula

A = b * h

where

A = area,

b = the base of the parallelogram, and

h = the height of the parallelogram.

In this problem, we are told that the base of each tile is b = 18 inches,

and that the height of each tile is h = 5 inches.

Substituting this information into the formula for area, we have the area of a single tile:

A = b * h = 18 inches * 5 inches = 90 square inches.

We are also told that it takes 30 tiles to cover the floor, and asked for the total area of the entire floor. From the previous calculation, we have

90 square inches/tile * 30 tiles = 2700 square inches.

So, the area of the entire floor is 2700 square inches.
