Given triangle ABC has vertices: A(4, −4), B(0, 4), C(−3, −1). Use the midpoints to create a new triangle. What are the vertices of your new triangle? How long is the longest segment?

If the co-ordinates of the endpoints of a line segment are (a,b) and (c,d), the midpoint of the segment is [(a+c)/2,(b+d)/2].

The sides of the smaller triangle will be 1/2 the sides of the larger triangle which will allow you to answer the 2nd question. (You need to remember some geometry to know why this is so.)
