Is a circle a polygon? Explain the different opinions of each group of mathematicians.

A polygon is a figure made up of a finite number of straight line segments, so a circle would not fit the definition of a polygon, however, one could say that a circle is a polygon that has had its number of sides increased over infinite time.

I'm not super well-versed on this subject, BUT, I'd start by taking a look at the proof for the area of a circle. If memory serves, one proof relies on a circle being cut up into various, super small polygons, and using things like radius and circumference to manufacture a rectangle (with regards to dimensions) from the circle. Good luck!
