Assuming the temperature is constant, we can use Boyle's Law ... P1V1 = P2V2
P1 = initial pressure = 800. torr
V1 = initial volume = 4.4 L
P2 = final pressure = 400. torr
V2 = final volume = ?
(800 torr)(4.4 L) = (400 torr)(V2 L)
V2 = 8.8 L
(Note: the pressure was cut in half and the volume doubled)
