Hi Mikaylah Rowe B
A = 23
Z = 157
You are given
A + Z = 180
And Z = 7A - 4
Since
A + Z = 180
Z also = 180 - A
So
180 - A = Z
7A - 4 = Z
We can set the Z equations equal to each and solve for A as follows:
7A - 4 = 180 - A
Combine like terms on both sides of the equations
7A + A = 180 + 4
8A = 184
Divide both sides by 8
A = 23
Go back to the original equations and substitutions given to check the results
Z = 7A - 4 = 180 - A
Z = 7(23) - 4 = 180 - 23
Z = 161 - 4 = 157
Z = 180 - 23 = 157
And of course
23 + 157 = 180
I hope you find this useful there are several ways to do it, in fact you can try a system of equations by elimination or substitution to check this.
Give that a try
