A = (xA , yA) = (-3,-6)
B = (xB , yB) = (10,7)
Find the change in x and the change in y:
xB - xA = 10 - (-3) = 13
yB - yA = 7 - (-6) = 13
Find (7/10) the change in x and (7/10) the change in y:
(7/10) (xB - xA) = (7/10) (13) = 9.1
(7/10) (yB - yA) = (7/10) (13) = 9.1
Add (7/10) the change in x and y to the x and y value in point A to find your new point:
xA + (7/10) (xB - xA) = -3 + 9.1 = 6.1
yA + (7/10) (yB - yA) = -6 + 9.1 = 3.1
(x,y) = (6.1, 3.1)
0.7(10 - (-3)) = 0.7(13) = 9.1
-3 + 9.1 = 6.1
So, your answer is (6.1, y). Find the y-coordinate the same way and round both if necessary.
