They form a trapezoid:
(-5,4), (-2,1), (2,-3), (4,-5) are on the same y = -x-1.
(0,3) and (4,-1) are on y = -x+3.
Since the points are easy to plot, use the formula for hypotenuse (Pythagorean Theorem) to sum up the sides.
