Jacob first translate the word problem to math.
so we have....
t * (-4) >= -2 so solve for t
divide both sides by -4 ....due to the LAWS OF INEQUALITY....you change the sign...look this up...
t <= -2/-4< = 1/2......so t <= 1/2....right....check.... if t<= 1/2....we have....1/2 * (-4) => -2...that checks...
what if t = 1/4 (t is less than 1/2).....then....we have.... 1/4 * (-4) = > -1 -1 is greater than -2......
what about if t=1 (t is greater than 1/2)....then
1 * (-4) > = -2....then -4 is not >= -2....so that checks....at t=1.....
if t=1/8 (t is less than 1/2)....1/8 * (-4) > = -1/2 this also checks...because -1/2 is greater than or equal to -2...right?
when we divide or multiply both sides of an inequality by negative signs you change the direction of the INEQUALTIY sign...Right?? You want check this and verify....

Jacob...this answer is also correct. It just depends on how you interpret the original problem. Is it (-2) or (-2 - (-5))? In both cases, notice how the sign changes..... :-)09/22/20
