Hi there!
My interpretation of your question is, "how does my calculator answer 48.8 when I type in Mean(45, 80, 15, 10, 94)?" Or, how would I get the mean of these numbers in my calculator?
When you hear the term, "mean," in Math, the question is referring to an average of a set of numbers. The formula for finding the mean of a set of numbers (A, B, C....) of n length is:
(A + B + C.....) / n
First add all the numbers together. Then, divide the sum by how many numbers there are.
Your calculator adds the 5 numbers you mentioned together to make 244. And 244 divided by 5 is 48.8.
If you need to find the mean, you can add the numbers together one by one and hit the "equals" or "enter" button on your calculator to show the full sum. Then count up the numbers and divide the sum by that number.
Averages or means are useful for giving single-number descriptions, or making guesses at things. For example, if you wanted to know how many students are in your school and you know there are 10 classes at an average size of 30 students, then you can estimate that there are 30 students * 10 classes = 300 students. That's 299 friends you can make!
Hope this helps! Please reach out if you have any more questions!
