This is a bit of a trick question because without a diagram, we don't know whether the smaller angle lies inside or outside the larger angle. In other words, if you start by drawing <KJL, where is point M located? If M is inside <KJL, then to find m<MJL you must subtract: m<MJL = m<KJL - m<KJM = 84° - 22° = 62°. However, if M is outside <KJL, then to find m<MJL, you must add: m<MJL = m<KJL + m<KJM = 84° + 22° = 106°.
