To move from -9 to +7 on a number line is 16 to the right of -9 and 1/8 of that can be calculated give it a try.

You can also draw a number line and mark it off in increments of 16(1/8) or 2 start counting from -9

Anyway 16 x 1/8 = 2

-9 + 2 = -7 is point E

Take the distance CD and divide by 8: CD/8

Now add that to C: C+CD/8

That's where E is. Start at C and move CD/8 towards D

The ratio of CE/CD = 1/8

8CE = CD

CE=CD/8

IF you knew the points (x,y) for C and D, you could find the point E in x and y coordinates
