Use the Addition Postulate.
ST + TU = SU
(3x + 2) + (x + 30) = SU
3x + 2 + x + 30 = SU
4x + 32 = SU

If T is the midpoint of SU, then ST must equal TU, which means 3x + 2 = x + 30 and x = 14.
This means ST = 3(14) + 2 = 44 and TU = 14 + 30 = 44.
By segment addition rule, ST + TU = SU, so SU = 44 + 44 = 88
