the point slope formula for a straight line is
y-h = m(x-k)
here slope = m=-3 and a point (k,h) = (6,1), so the equation is:
y-1 =-3(x-6) or
y=-3x +18+1 =- 3x+19
3x+y=19

general equation of line is y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b is y-intercept and (x,y) is any point on the line. We need to find m and b to complete the equation of the line.
we are given the slope m=-3, so we just need to find b. We are given an (x,y) = (6,1) on the line, so we can substitute that x,y and m=-3 to determine b:
1 = -3(6) + b
19 = b
so equation of line is y = -3x + 19
