Although it is not necessary, breaking this problem into pieces might help. You want
(f(x)-f(3))/ (x - 3)
you are given f(x) = 3x2-2x+1
So find f(x=3) = f(3) = 3(3)2 -2(3)+1 = 3*9 -6 +1 = 27 -5 = 22
Thus
(f(x)-f(3))/ (x - 3) = (3x2-2x+1 -22) / (x-3)
= (3x2-2x-21) / (x-3)
Ill leave the last steps of factoring the numerator and simplifying for you. Hope this helps.
