Why does salting out increase the partition coefficient in favour of the organic compound?

An organic compound can be extracted from a water layer by an organic solvent more efficiently if the water layer is saturated with an inorganic salt such as sodium chloride. This ‘salting out’, increases the partition coefficient in favour of the organic compound, Please explain why this is.
