First distribute the 1/2 to the 3x and the 4 on the left side of the equation and distribute the -6 to the 4/3 and the 8x on the right side.
3x/2 + 2 - 8 = 68 - 8 - 48x
then combine like terms
3x/2 - 6 = 60 - 48x
now gather all the coefficient terms to one side of the equation (the x terms) and the numerical terms to the other side of the equation. So I will move the -6 to the left side of the equation by adding 6 to both sides and I will move the -48x to the right side of the equation by adding 48x to both sides of the equation
3x/2 - 6 + 6 + 48x = 60 - 48x + 48x + 6
Combine like terms to simplify the question
99x/2 = 66
then multiply each side of the equation to move the 2 from the denominator
2 * 99x/2 = 66 * 2
99x = 132
Divide each side by 99 to isolate the x
99x/99 = 132/99
x = 132/99
this simplifies by dividing out 33 in the numerator and the denominator since their greatest common divisor is 33
x = 4/3
