b. Now determine exactly how many treats he can get from one pan.

Irina misread the size of the treat because the 1 was not next to the 1/2 .

I'm assuming the treat is 1 1/2 in by 1 in.

a) You can get your estimate by finding the Area of the pan and dividing by the area of the cookie.

9 x 13/(1 1/2 x 1) = 117/(3/2) = 78

b) While it would be possible that we couldn't fit the cookies in, because 9 is divisible by 1 1/2, (and, of course, 13 is divisible by 1)we will be able to get it to fit. 9/(3/2) * 13/1 = 6 * 13 = 78

2. 0.5 x 1= 0.5 sq. inch area of one treat
3. 117 / 0.5 =234 pieces
4. 13 inch / 0.5 inch- 26 pieces along the length of pan
5. 9 inch/ 1 inch = 9 pieces along the width of pan
6. 26 x 9 = 234 pieces
