Work your way backwards, and look at the formulas you'll need. The volume of a cube is the length of a side of the cube, cubed (x*x*x, or x^3). Recall also how you get the surface area of a cube in the first place. A cube is six squares made up of that same length (x). Area of a square is x^2, and then you just multiply it by 6 to get all six squares, and that totals up to 294. So 6*x^2 = 294.
Great, that's all the information we need. Start by solving for x, and then plug that x into the volume formula.
For reference, I got x = 7cm and the volume therefore as 343cm^3.
