A “why is it so” question

There is a question, where BOC is a sector of a circle, with O as center, angle BOC as 60 degrees. O to C is 8. A boy set up two proportions to find the area of the sector.

one is 60/360= x/16 pi.

The other is x=60/360 (16pi).

Both of these equations are wrong for the same reason.

What is the reason and why?

It is incorrect because you need to set up the proportion with the formula for area, not circumference. It should be 64π instead of 16π.
