Cut the interval in half. What's in the middle? If we could think of the boundaries of the interval as two points, the midpoint between them would be (433.1 + 496.1)/2 = 464.6. This is right in the middle of 433.1 and 496.1. This is x-bar, since x-bar is in the middle of the interval. This means that 433.1 and 496.1 are the same distance (the margin of error, ME) away from 464.6.
464.6 - 433.1 = 31.5.
496.1 - 464.6 = 31.5.
