If you aren't retaining employees, then they may not be happy. They may be unhappy because something is wrong with the company/firm. If something is wrong with the firm, then you would not expect it to do as well as companies without that problem. Also, if a company doesn't have many experienced employees, then you would not expect it to do as well as a company with many experienced employees.
