The coefficient of variation is the ratio of the standard deviation to the mean * 100 (percentage). The higher the CV the more variation there is in the data. The lower the CV the more precise the mean is as an estimate.

Listed below are pulse rates (beats per minute) from samples of adult males
and females (from Data Set 1 “Body Data” in Appendix B). Does there appear to be a difference?
